Life Coach – Collette Chang

Life Skills Coaching
Collette Chang Collette has worked for 19 years as an educator in tertiary institutions in Australia and overseas. Working primarily with international undergraduate and postgraduate students from a variety of disciplines, she loves her role as a teacher, tutor and mentor to her students.

With a degree in Economics, teaching Qualifications and a Diploma in TESOL, Collette currently lectures in Economics and Communication Skills. She also teaches English for Business and Academic Purposes. She completed a Masters Degree in 1993.

Collette is a certified coach and has been coaching since completing her Certificate in Coach and Mentor Practice in 2003.

Psychologist – Jacob Topy

Jacob Topy is a Psychologist who will be working at CityLife Community Care on Thursdays.

Jacob has a particular interest in adolescent and men’s issues.

Areas of expertise include:

  • Relationship Counselling—Individuals, couples and family issues.
  • Work Related Issues such as career development, rehabilitation following accident or injury and dealing with retrenchment or burnout.
  • Education—School Problems, study or learning difficulties, behavioural issues, motivation, formal testing.

Probationary Psychologist

Lorraine McGregor has an education and business background and is working towards getting her Psychologist registration this year. She has seven years experience in working as a counsellor and probationary psychologist. Lorraine works with adolescents and adults (including couples). She specialises in: grief and loss, relationships, depression and anxiety, separation and divorce, abuse, sexuality, anger and conflict.

Speech Pathologist – Linda Leigh

A Speech Pathologist is someone who has been professionally trained to assess and treat communication difficulties.

A Speech Pathologist works with people who have a problem with:

  • Language – particularly people who find it hard to understand or to use spoken or written words.
  • Speech – especially people who have difficulty pronouncing sounds or who have a lisp.
  • Voice – particularly people who use their voice a lot or who want to change their voice quality.
  • Stuttering
  • Hearing Loss – including children who are hearing impaired and who are finding it difficult learning speech and language or adults who become hearing impaired and need help to adjust.

In addition, a speech pathologist provides counselling, advice and information for families and caregivers on issues associated with speech difficulties. They work closely with other health, education and community service professionals.

Initial assessment may take 1-2 sessions depending on the nature of the communication difficulty. Assessment involves information gathering, listening and a lot of talking.

Treatment or intervention may involve a program to be completed at home or school with visits to the centre to check progress or weekly, fortnightly or monthly sessions. Referral to other specialists for assessment may at times be appropriate.
